Im Zentrum der Szene präsentiert eine Gruppe eleganter Figuren einen Mann mit seinen Handgelenken und Knöcheln, die an einen Heiligen Bischof gebunden sind. Er benutzt heiliges Wasser, um den Teufel auszutreiben, der wegfliegt. Neben dem Wagen, in dem das Opfer ankam, warten die Carter, beobachten das Wunder, fasziniert und alarmiert. Der Wagen, die Pferde und die verschiedenen farbigen Gebäude aus dem Platz schaffen einen Hauch von räumlicher Tiefe. Der Heilige ist der Heilige Hugh (1140-1200), Bischof von Lincoln und der Gründer des ersten Charterhauses in England. Dieses Panel war ursprünglich ein Kompartiment der Predella eines Altarstücks (jetzt entkleidet), das für die Kapelle von Kardinal Angelo Acciaioli im Charterhaus von Florenz zwischen 1404 und 1407 gemalt wurde.
