Diese Holzstatue, wie die Statue von Magdalena, war Teil eines Compianto (Mourning the Dead Christ) eine polychrome skulpturale Gruppetypisch der heiligen Kunst aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, die Christus aus dem Kronen von sieben Figuren umgeben gezeigt. Die gesamte Arbeit, die auch die Figuren der Jungfrau, des heiligen Johannes, von Maria Magdalena, von Nicodemus und von Joseph vonArimathea umfasste, wurde von Lombard Bildhauer Giovanni Angelo del Maino geformt. Es wird angenommen, dass die Komposition bis in die 1920er-1930er Jahre ganz blieb und für verschiedene private Sammlungen aufgespalten wurde. In dieser Darstellung von Nicodemus, der traditionell gesagt wurde, dass sie dannails aus Christus extrahiert haben
