Einmal Teil einer Deckendekoration im Palazzo Barbaro von Venedig, war dieses Gemälde nie gedacht, auf dem Kopf oder in einem solchen Nahbereich zu sehen. Die mentalen Sprünge, die notwendig sind, um es hoch über Kopf neu zu denken, repliziert jedoch Tiepolos Prozess: durch Zeichnungen und Ölskizzen, die Probleme der Farbverteilung, Zusammensetzung, Perspektive und der Zustimmung seines Patrons gelöst, Tiepolo foresaw sehr ortsspezifische Anforderungen. Die Trompete, der ausgestreckte Arm und die gefürchtete zentrale Figur gab den falschen Eindruck, dass die Decke zum Himmel geöffnet. Tiepolo wurde bei der Allegorisierung seiner Mäzen durch Figuren, die Valor, Fame und Glory.
