Die Marquis Luigi Cusani (1592-1659), ein wichtiger Politiker, Rechtsarzt, befürwortet General der Regio Fisco, Senator in Madrid und dann Präsident des Senats, stirbt ohne direkte Erben und lässt seine materiellen Güter in das Maggiore Krankenhaus. Nach einem Streit, der von einigen Verwandten erhoben wird, die das Erbe behaupten, ist das Vermächtnis für das Krankenhaus am Ende klein. Das Porträt ist Giuseppe Nuvolone, Sohn von Panfilo und Bruder von Carlo Francesco anvertraut. Künstlerisch lebt er in seinem Bruder.
