Das Gemälde wurde von Baron Samuel von Brukenthal gekauft, nämlich Vaterschaft, ohne nur als Gemälde aus den unteren Ländern aufgenommen zu werden. Das Gemälde scheint mit der Idee von ephemeren Lebensvergnügen (Vita Luxuria), die die Seele tötet, vertreten durch den Vogel zerquetscht die Kassettenabdeckung, mit einer offensichtlichen Betonung, bei der Arbeit von Sibiu die Idee, dass Prostitution oder Debaucherie im Allgemeinen ist ein geistiger Tod.
