Es gibt voll bewaffnete Samurais und Mönchssoldaten, und auch erschreckte Nonnen krochen nach unten, während sie eng an ihren buddhistischen Rosenkranz festhalten. Da kommt ein Mann die Steinschritte runter. Diese Person, deren Gesicht nicht gezeigt wird, ist Kaiser Godaigo selbst. Er ist bekannt, dass er 1336 aus Kyoto geflohen ist und die Regierung in Yoshino, Nara gegründet hat. Die Arbeit erfasst den äußerst angespannten Moment, in dem er dem kaiserlichen Palast entkommen wird, der als Frau in einem Strohhut einer Frau und Kimono verkleidet ist.
