Hishida Shunsô stammt aus der Stadt Iida in der Präfektur Nagano. Neben Einzelpersonen wie Okakura Tenshin und Yokoyama Taikan war er an der Gründung von Nihon Bijutsu-in (Japan Art Institute) beteiligt. Er versuchte einen Stil der Malerei ohne Linien, genannt “Môrô-tai” (vague style), und zusammen mit Taikan, förderte er die Bewegung, japanische Malerei am Ende der Meiji Periode zu reformieren. Diese Zusammensetzung ist eine wichtige Arbeit in der frühen Periode von Môrô-tai positioniert. Es entwickelt den Ausdruck der Luft und Licht durch Gradationstechniken und drückt geschickt den subtil schönen, stillen Charme eines Tals in der Mitte des Herbstes aus.
