Ivan Lazarov (1889–1952) war der prominenteste Vertreter der Native Art Bewegung in der bulgarischen Skulptur der 1920er und 1930er Jahre. Er widmete seine kreative Arbeit der Tradition, Lebensweise und Kultur Bulgariens und gewann eine Kunst, die national in Geist und Form war. Er schuf seinen individuellen Stil, basierend auf dem modernen Streben nach einer synthetisierten Kunst aus Kunststoff und den markanten Formenbaueigenschaften der bulgarischen National Revival Holzschnitzerei.
