Corot malte diese Skizze am Nemisee, südöstlich von Rom, im Juni oder Juli 1843. Er adaptierte den Blick auf zwei Gemälde, Ansicht von Genzano mit Rider und Bauern (2009.400.30) und Genzano: Goatherd und Village (Phillips Collection, Washington). Corot wird gedacht, beide Freunde gegeben zu haben, aber er hielt diese Skizze bis zum Ende seines Lebens.
