Diese Studie einer Kuh kann im Werk des Künstlers einzigartig sein. Es könnte eine Breton Kuh oder vielleicht eine Fribourg sein, beide ziemlich weit verbreitete Arten. Corot wird nicht oft als Maler von Tieren gedacht, weil er sie selten in seinen Gemälden eingeschlossen. Doch wenn sie erscheinen – in Landschaften, mythologischen Szenen und sogar Porträts – überzeugen sie sich durch seine Behandlung der menschlichen Form.
