In den Sommermonaten flohen die gut besuchten Einwohner Istanbuls aus der verkrampften Stadt, um sich an den Ufern des Bosporus zu erfrischen. Die Frauen, die Teil des Harems des Sultans und der großen Visier im Namen von manchmal Teil des Picknicks und wahrscheinlich Vanmour wollte eine solche Gelegenheit darstellen. Hunkiar Iskêléci war ein bekannter Ort auf dem Bosporus, wo sie sich trafen.
