Im Jahre 1733 wurde Oudry in Auftrag gegeben, drei Tapetry Cartoons zu produzieren, die die Jagden von Louis XV illustrieren. Die in der Gobelins-Fabrik gewebten Tapisserien wollten die Bettkammer des Königs und die Vorkammer und die Kammer des Rates im Château de Compiègne schmücken. 1738 wurde beschlossen, dass die Serie neun Cartoons umfassen sollte; diese wurden 1746 von Oudry abgeschlossen. Moïse de Camondo kaufte sie 1921 vom Antiquitätenhändler Jacques Seligmann.
