Carlin machte vier aufeinanderfolgende Einträge in seinem Buch im Oktober 1846 für die Sitzungen mit den Allen Brothers. Er nannte sie "Eldest", "Second", "Drei" und "Deinst". Im Rand neben den Namen schrieb Carlin: "In der halben Gruppe $50.00." William Barton Franklin Vanderbilt, und Harry waren die Söhne des Kommodor Cornelius Vanderbilts zweite Tochter, Ethelinda Vanderbilt und Daniel B. Allen. Vanderbilt In Auftrag gegeben das Gruppenporträt seiner Enkel.
