Dedham Vale (1802) ist eines der berühmtesten Gemälde von John Constable. Geboren in Suffolk, ist er hauptsächlich für seine Landschaftsmalereien von Dedham Vale bekannt, die Umgebung seines Hauses - heute bekannt als "Constable Country" -, die er mit einer Intensität der Zuneigung investierte. "Ich sollte meine eigenen Orte am besten malen", schrieb er 1821 an seinen Freund John Fisher, "die Malerei ist nur ein weiteres Wort für das Gefühl".
