Die Danaides (1904) ist ein Ölgemälde des englischen Pre-Raphaelite Malers John William Waterhouse. Die fünfzig Töchter von Danaüs, König von Argos, wurden in Gehorsam einer Prophezeiung befohlen, ihre Männer auf ihrer Hochzeitsnacht zu ermorden; nur einer gehorchte und wurde bestraft, indem sie Wasser in Sieben aus einem tiefen Brunnen ziehen mussten, oder indem sie endlos in ein Gefäß gießen, aus dem es ständig entkam.
