Dies ist eine Edo-Periode (1603-1868) mehrfarbige Holzschnitt, genannt nishiki-e, die eine der 69 Stationen auf der Nakasendō Autobahn darstellt. Dieser Druck ist einer in einer Serie von 70 Drucken, die verschiedene Stationen entlang der Nakasendō (von der ersten Station, Nihonbashi, zur Endstation, Ōtsu). Die Serie war ein gemeinsames Projekt von Keisai Eisen und Utagawa Hiroshige, Künstler, die in der späteren Edo-Zeit aktiv waren. Die Nakasendō war eine der wichtigsten Routen der Edo-Periode und wurde auch Kisokaidō genannt, daher die Aufnahme von Kisokaidō in den Druck
