Fleury trat 1827 in Italien bei Corot; sie waren am 23. August in Tivoli, dem Thema dieser Ansicht. Während Corot seinen Ruf mit Gemälden baute, die auf einer Skala ausreichten, um in einem Raum mit großen Bildern zu stehen, ist Fleury bekannt, ausgestellte Werke, die seine plein-air Skizzen in ihrem Grad der Finish und bescheidene Größe replizierten. Dieses Beispiel wird unterschrieben, was darauf hindeutet, dass es im Studio fertiggestellt wurde, aber es hätte gut auf dem Motiv gemalt werden können.
