Wäre es nicht für die Inschrift, Lin Shus Gemälde könnte für eine idealisierte Berglandschaft mit einem generischen Gelehrten Blick von einer Brücke genommen werden. Lin schreibt, dass er die wunderschönen Höhlen und Gipfel von Wenzhou in Zhejiang besucht hat, und dass er diesen Fan als "Vorschau" für einen Freund malt, der ihn auf derselben Reise am nächsten Tag begleiten wird.
