Dies ist eines der innovativsten und dynamischsten Portraits der Renaissance. Der venezianische Sammler Andrea Odoni (1488-1545) hält in einer Hand eine Statuette von Diana von Ephesus, Symbol der Natur, und mit dem anderen verschließt er ein Kreuz zu seiner Brust, was darauf hindeutet, dass das Christentum Vorrang vor der Natur und den heidnischen Göttern der Antike hat. Lotto war vor kurzem nach dreizehn Jahren in Bergamo nach Venedig zurückgekehrt und war bestrebt, mögliche Patronen in Venedig zu beeindrucken.
