In diesem Porträt von Clement VII, dem unehelichen Sohn von Lorenzo il Magnificos Bruder und Patron von Michelangelo und Sebastiano, wird der Figur mehr Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt und weniger dem Raum um ihn herum. In Sebastianos Porträt wird der nicht ganz gut aussehende Medici-Pop würdig und monumentalisiert. Während sich der Porträttyp selbst von Raphaels Julius II ableitet, zeigen andere Elemente seine Schuld an Michelangelo, wie die vergrößerte Hand, die aus dem Stuhl dangling. Die elegante Behandlung des Materials und die Platzierung des Lichts, das über die gesamte Figur flackert, erzeugen viel visuelle Aufregung.
