Die Annahme der Jungfrau, die am 15. August gefeiert wird, ist ein besonders wichtiger Urlaub in Siena. Niccolò di ser Sozzo, einer der renommierten Illuminatoren der Stadt aus dem vierzehnten Jahrhundert, malte es mehrmals. Die Jungfrau Maria, in einem diaphanischen Kleid, erhebt sich mühelos, da Engelchor ihren Weg führen.
