Das Denkmal für den großen Astronom Nicolaus Copernicus wurde 1787 auf Initiative von Samuel Luther Geret (1730–1797) errichtet und wurde an der Kreuzung von Kopernika und Piekary Streets (auf der Ecke der Straße vor dem Haus, die damals als Copernicus angesehen wurde) errichtet.
