Dieses Instrument ist wirklich eine amerikanische Ikone - zum Teil weil ein Bild eines Lyre Mandolins mit einer überlagerten Büste Gibsons auf Gibson-Labels gut in das 20. Jahrhundert verwendet wurde - aber ironisch war es nicht als Spielinstrument erfolgreich. Lyre-Gitarren waren in Europa zu Beginn des 19.
