Paul Iribe ist einer der Pioniere von Art Deco. Seine Designs für Möbel, Schmuck, Stoffe, Bühnendekoration und Theaterkostüme zeigen den veränderten Stilsinn, der ab 1910 das Jugendstil ersetzte und ein neues Repertoire an Formen entwickelte. Im Blick von Iribe sollte die moderne Ästhetik reflektieren. Er lehnte jedoch kubistische Formen oder maschinelle Möbel ab.
