Dieses Foto zeigt ein Porträt von Dame Helen Gwynne-Vaughan von Philip Alexius de László. Helen Gwynne-Vaughan, (geb. Fraser, 1879-1967), war ein prominenter britischer Botaniker, der auch eine ausgezeichnete militärische Karriere hatte. 1909 folgte sie ihrem Mann, David Thomas Gwynne-Vaughan, als Leiterin der Abteilung für Botanik am Birkbeck College. 1921 wurde sie zum ersten weiblichen Professor des College. Sie zog 1944 als Professor Emeritus in den Ruhestand. Während des Ersten Weltkriegs wurde Gwynne-Vaughan zum Controller der Frauen ernannt
