Im Jahr 1948, Philips kam mit einem neuen Design für die Philishave, Spitznamen der 'egg'. Der Rasierer hat eine eiförmige Halterung aus elfenbeinfarbenem Kunststoff mit einem einzigen Rasierkopf und eingebautem Elektromotor. Um den Rasiervorgang zu beschleunigen, wurde dieses Design 1951 mit einem zweiten Rasierkopf aktualisiert. Diese sind aus sehr dünnem gehärtetem Stahl und haben mehrere schmale Schlitze für die Gesichtshaare zu durchkleben. Später kam eine weitere Verbesserung: federbelastete Rasierköpfe.
