Bonnards Malerei der täglichen Routine des Bades, aus dem Gedächtnis gemacht, erfasst die Details des Lichts reflektiert in einem Spiegel und spitz roten Pantoffeln. Die Frau ist wahrscheinlich Marthe (Maria Boursin; 1869–1942), den Bonnard 1893 traf und 1925 heiratete.
