Die Leinwand, die mit neo-Correggesque Referenzen aufgewachsen ist, präsentiert den kleinen Francesco Napoleone, wie er in einem Wald schläft: Pflanzenelemente und Farben nehmen symbolischen Wert auf. Eine ähnliche Version von Prud’hon wird auch im Musée du Louvre in Paris aufbewahrt.
