Diese lebendige Skizze ist eine lose Studie für ein Altarstück, das von der Familie Colonna in Auftrag gegeben wurde und heute in der Galleria Nazionale di Palazzo Barberini ist. Mit großer theatralischer Wirkung zeigt Costanzi den heiligen Joseph von Cupertino, der für seine Levitationen gefeiert wurde und eine besessene Jugend, die er dramatisch durch die Haare in der Mitte hält.
