Die Tamil Lady, die den Swarbat von Raja Ravi Varma spielt, ist eine spätere Kopie des Künstlers selbst eines Gemäldes, das erst 1874 gemalt wurde. Das Gemälde 1874 wurde auf der Ausstellung der Madras Fine Art Society ausgestellt und wurde anschließend von dem Maharaja von Travancore an den Prince of Wales (Later King Edward VII) während dieser Reise nach Indien im Jahre 1875 begabt.
