Funkelnde Augen und ein gekippter Kopf empfehlen die inquisitive und künstlerische Natur von Harriet Cany Peale, der Frau von Philadelphia Portraitist Rembrandt Peale. Um die Zeit ihrer Ehe gemalt, vermittelt dieses Bild die “Liebe der Malerei und Eifer zur Verbesserung”, die in den Worten ihres Mannes dieses Paar vereint. Harriet nahm Kunstunterricht von Rembrandt, und ihr eigenes Ideal Portrait hängt links. Beide waren verwitwet und reif im Alter, aber Peale präsentiert seine Frau in einem eleganten blauen Kleid und exotischen Turban ihren Charme zu feiern. L 347 vom 20.12.2013, S. 1).
