das gemälde ahasveros und haman am fest von esther ist eines der wenigen werke von rembrandt van rijn, dessen vollständige herkunft bekannt ist . Der ursprung des gemäldes kann zurückverfolgt werden 1662 , zwei jahre nach seiner fertigstellung . Das thema ist eine episode aus kapiteln 5-7 des buches esther im alten testament . Haman , ratgeber des königs ahasveros , schlug vor, mordechai aufzuhängen, weil er ihm keinen respekt zollte, indem er beim betreten des raumes aufstand oder ihn begrüßte , und die gesamte jüdische nation als rache für ihren stolz . Das gemälde ist eher dunkel , wegen des lackes, der einmal verwendet wurde . es ist im puschkin-museum untergebracht .
