Laut Anmerkungen von Helen Clay Frick trug ihre Mutter Adelaide Frick dieses Ensemble vom französischen Designer Gustave Beer zu einer Rezeption, die Präsident Theodore Roosevelt im Weißen Haus erhielt. Bis 1905 ist das Kleid aus Seide Samt, Taft und Satin, Brüssel Nadelspitze Spitze, Gewebeband und Gold Metallfäden. Sein „S-Kurve“-Stil war damals die Höhe der Mode, ein Blick durch ein restriktives Korsett erreicht. Gustave Beer wurde von 1905-1914 in Paris auf dem Platz Vendome gegründet. Er verkaufte seine Sammlungen auch in Luxushotels während der Touristensaison.
