Sara Hennell (1812-1899) war Autor und Künstler. Shebecame enge Freunde mit George Eliot in den 1840er Jahren und zog nach Coventry von Hackneyin London im Jahre 1851. Diese Aquarell zeigt die Kapelle in Hackney um die Zeit, die sie nach Coventry verlegt, um neben ihrer Schwester Cara Bray zu leben. Dies war das gleiche Jahr George Eliot zog nach London und die beiden zogen sich über die folgenden Jahre auseinander. Die Juxtaposition der Kapelle und der landwirtschaftlichen Szene im Vordergrund zeigt die städtischen und ländlichen Aspekte von Hackney zu dieser Zeit.
