Im Jahre 1942 hat Richmonds Thalhimers Department Store seinen exklusiven französischen Raum nach der deutschen Besetzung Frankreichs während des Zweiten Weltkriegs den amerikanischen Zugang zu Paris Couture gesperrt. Der Americana Shop, in seiner Statt geschaffen, förderte das amerikanische Design als patriotische Option. Die Pailletten-Halbmonde, die dieses Abendkleid verschönern, waren ein Attribut der griechischen Artemis oder römischen Diana, die mächtige Göttin der Jagd und ein entsprechendes Emblem, vielleicht für Richmond Frauen, die die Hausfront halten, während Männer im Krieg waren
