Gemalt in Sullys sukkulärster, malerischer Weise ist "Musidora" seine einzige bekannte Nude. Inspiriert von James Thomsons Gedicht Summer (1727), ist es auf einmal chaste und erotisch, eine Kombination, die große Reiz für zeitgenössische viktorianische Publikum hatte. Sully zeigt die bescheidene Musidora in dem Moment, in dem ihr Anzug, Damon, ihr Baden im Wald entdeckt. Sein sanftes Verhalten beeindruckt sie so, dass sie sofort ihre Liebe zu ihm verspricht. Das Thema wurde von vielen Künstlern des Tages gemalt, aber Sullys Interpretation, in der der unwissende Betrachter die Rolle von Damon spielt, ist zwingend einzigartig.
