Großbild von Präsident George Washington (1732-1799), Commander-in-Chief zur kontinentalen Armee während der Amerikanischen Revolution und 1. Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten. General Washington ist nicht zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt dargestellt, sondern das Gemälde ruft die nationale Ikone hervor, die in den 1790er Jahren Gestalt angenommen hatte, als Präsident Washington im Amt war und Philadelphia die Hauptstadt war. Die Darstellung erinnert an die Gemälde von Gilbert Stuart, die die Basis für die Ikonographie wurde, die auf der Rechnung eines Dollars gefunden wurde.
