In Kapitel 30 besucht Yūgiri nach dem Tod ihrer Großmutter Tamakazura. Yūgiri hat gelernt, dass Tamakazura nicht seine Schwester ist, sondern sein Cousin, wodurch die Möglichkeit der Gerichtsbarkeit eröffnet. Er bringt eine Botschaft des Beileids und eines Liebesgedichts, zusammen mit einem Bouquet von Nebelblumen. Da Tamakazura ihre Fähigkeiten in der Abwehr von Genjis Fortschritte, sie kunstvoll Nebenschritte Yūgiri auch. Dieser Moment wird mit Mitsuyoshis typischer raffinierter Delikatesse dargestellt.
