Basierend auf der Unterschrift oben rechts, dieses Gemälde ist mit dem Werk von Perov verbunden, der für seine entflinchende Darstellungen von Bauern und von wichtigen russischen Kulturfiguren wie dem Dramatisten Aleksandr Ostrovsky und dem Romanisten Fyodor Dostojewski bekannt war.
