van gogh kam im februar in arles an 1888 inmitten eines schneesturms , innerhalb von zwei wochen änderte sich das wetter und die obstbäume blühten . Die symbolik der wiedergeburt schätzen , van gogh arbeitete im frühjahr mit optimismus und eifer an etwa vierzehn gemälden blühender bäume . Er malte auch blühende bäume in Saint-Rémy im 1888 .
