wenn das wetter in arles , Frankreich , wurde im märz mild , vincent van gogh schwelgte in der sich verändernden landschaft . er malte pfirsichbäume in blüte ( souvenir de mauve ) im 1888 . bis ende märz alle obstbäume -- pflaume , aprikose , birne , apfel , und kirsche -- waren entweder knospig oder in voller blüte . van gogh arbeitete schnell mit flackernden strichen, um den schönen, aber flüchtigen effekt einzufangen . während er rosa pfirsichbäume malte, erhielt er die nachricht vom tod von anton mauve . der ältere maler hatte van gogh aufgefordert, die farbe frei zu verwenden , und vincent widmete dieses gemälde seiner erinnerung .
