In einem Stil, der Inspiration aus dem von Dalí, Picasso und Miró angestifteten Biomorphismus nimmt, veröffentlicht Kandinsky die languiden kleinen kursiven Formen aus ihrer geometrischen Schichtjacke, wo er sie in seine früheren Bauhauskompositionen eingefügt hatte. Er verwandelt sie in ein spielerisches Ballett, das von Motiven bevölkert wird, die Teiltier sind, Teilfantasie, in einem langsamen Freifall. Bleu de Ciel ist das Gemälde von Fantasie und Poesie. Kandinsky hat sich neu erfunden: Natur und Leben nehmen jetzt den Vordergrund auf. Dieser Wunsch nach Aktivität kommt auch auf seine neue Weise, um mit den Oberflächen umzugehen. Wie Picasso, Braque und Masson vermischt er Farbpigmente mit Sand, um die Kontraste zwischen Texturen zu betonen.
