Mit dieser Arbeit ist es möglich, Stevens Ansatz zur Abstraktion zu sehen. Im Wesentlichen löst er Farbe und Form in kühn gemusterte Blöcke, die eine visuelle Einheit der gesamten Arbeit geben, während isoliert einzelne Farbfelder... sehr in der Art von Arshile Gorky und andere abstrakte Künstler in New York in den 1940er Jahren arbeiten. Die Palette hier ist sehr subtil und unterscheidet sich stark von der naturalistischen Arbeit, die in der gleichen Zeit ausgeführt wird.
