Born in Brazil, Ambrosina worked as a wet nurse in Taubaté at the end of the nineteenth century. She was accused of murdering Benedito, her bosses’ son, for allegedly having ignored his insistent crying and having breastfed instead her own baby son, also called Benedito. Ambrosina defended herself, claiming that it had been a tragedy and that the charges resulted from witchcraft done against her by other enslaved women. The end of her story is unknown.
