Biography:
The Northern Italian Workshop, also known as Bottega dell'Italia settentrionale, was a group of artists active in the northern region of Italy during the 18th century. They are known for their contributions to the development of the rococo style in Italy, as well as their use of tenebrism, a dramatic use of light and shadow. The workshop produced a variety of works, including furniture, decorative objects, and paintings. One notable example of their work is a divan, an isolated piece of furniture, which is currently housed in Palazzo Barbaroux in Torino, Italy. The workshop also produced a series of fifteen oval frames, which are currently housed in the Museo della Certosa di Pavia in Pavia, Italy.
