Biography:
Toshu Shogetsu was a Japanese woodblock print artist who was active from around 1850 to 1900. He is known for his depictions of historical events and scenes, including the arrival of American ships in Japan during the late 19th century. His work has been exhibited at museums such as the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
