Christian Bernhard Rode wurde am 25. Juli 1725 in Berlin geboren. Er war u.a. Schüler von Antoine Pesne, der ihn 1750 zur Ausbildung nach Paris zu Carle Vanloo und Jean Restout schickte. 1755 kehrte Rode nach Berlin zurück, 1756 wurde er im Berliner Adressbuch schon als Akademiemitglied geführt.
