Allegorizing portrait group of the children of Diederic Pietersz van Leyden (van Leeuwen), mayor of Leiden, and Alida Paets. Portraited in a garden near a classic temple by age: Theodora Catharina (b. 1661) with a snake and a globe, Bernardina (c. 1662-1716) with a shield, helmet, spear and golden curas, Suzanna (1664-1712) with a sword above a fire, Adriaan Willem (1667-88) all left in Roman costume, Pieter (b. 1666) and Louis (1668-97) in the foreground with a book and an oil lamp, François Adriaan (1669-1726) with a sandloper and Philippina, as a child deceased, in the air as putto with a palm branch and wreath. Right in the foreground, gooseberries, pumpkins or melons grow.
