Hans Aescher (1866 - 1947), a painter and graphic artist of German origin, is the author of numerous watercolor and graphic works, among which there are some owned by Cotroceni National Museum. Among them there is this beautiful watercolor, representing two peasant women, wearing traditional costumes, with veils and special sandals. One holds a bag in a hand and the other is using an umbrella as a cane. The bright colors and the mimic of the women suggest a state of happiness or cheerfulness.
