Top right is a wall mounted shelf with further example of the porcelain.The subject is depicted holding a K’ang Hsi (1662-1722) porcelain ginger jar with similar porcelain in the background; these wares were seriously collected in the 1870s & 1880s.Purchased with assistance from the Kent Kingdon Bequest, 1911
